Basketball is the sport with the highest number of black players on a professional level. Inspired by them, young African Americans play streetball, it is a great part of their culture and identity. They only wear tank tops and tees, and sometimes even take them off. Since they play all day, they are constantly exposed to the sun.
Even though skin cancer can be easily prevented by applying sunscreen, acting differently to their friends is hard, and being the only one applying sunscreen is embarrassing.
TimeOut for Skin Cancer aims to remind streetballers to take a break and reapply sunscreen collectively to avoid embarrassing moments. We want to tell streetballers that everyone, including black men, needs to protect themselves from the sun.
